Wonderful English-version contained on the 2nd DVD - All region-player required. • • • • • (bewertet mit 5 von 5 Punkten) This 2-dvd set contains a beautifully restored English dub of this wonderful, 1954-version of Homer's THE ODYSSEY, produced by Dino De Laurentiis. This extended Italian edit contains nearly 10 minutes of additional shots, included on the English dub in the original Italian (with inserted English subtitles as required). The film is accurately presented for the first time in it's original, 1:55-to-1 aspect ratio (anamorphically enhanced for pillar-boxing on 16:9 screens). It's a sensational recreation of the original theatrical prints, with fine delivery of the optical monaural sound for all the International dubs (Italian, English and German are included here - with optional German subtitles available). Douglas' and Quinn's participation secured an English version released by Paramount in the United States, and it's important to note that screenplay contributions for the English dub were made by none other than Ben Hecht and Irwin Shaw, both prestigious authors at the time of release. There's a lush musical score by Alessandro Cicognini that's also a highlight. The picture has an astonishing classic look and appeal, and it's absolutely terrific to have this first-rate, German DVD available for those with region-free DVD players.
